What are the priorities you think need to be addressed ?
In preparation for the Learning Circle on Learning Circles, we asked the participants to expolore the following questions.
-
Have multiple Aboriginal groups been able to effectively work together in the urban setting? Have “umbrella groups” been successful, or are the separate First Nations and Metis organizations a more effective approach?
-
Is the development of urban Aboriginal governance necessary to establish urban Aboriginal priorities, and attract the corresponding funding?
-
What are the examples/models of spiritual and cultural well-being of urban Aboriginal communities, that contribute to economic development of those communities?
-
Are there examples of existing Aboriginal organizations, such as Friendship Centres and Aboriginal Housing organizations, that are working towards what Evelyn Peters describes as “institutional completeness”?
-
Are there examples of native and non-native efforts at community development that have been successful, and what are the elements of their success?
