The recently picked sage lay drying in the peaceful round Healing room of the Native Women’s Transition Centre in the heart of Winnipeg’s inner city. Seven humbly sat in the circle, drawn by their curiosity, guided by their incredible passion to improve conditions for Aboriginal people. “What is community economic development to urban Aboriginal people?” they asked. We must define it for ourselves and it must include the truth. The truth about our spirituality, and the truth about who we really are. We must help one another to speak our truth and stand strong in it. We know the questions and together we know the answers for Creator has hidden them inside us, in our hearts and minds, waiting to be shared as gifts with one another.
